EPR of Uranium. Ions

Actinides, the last known group of the Periodic Table are the subject of a special interest, both practical and scientific. Though their use is mainly based on their unique nuclear properties, the electronic structure is of no little interest because it is of paramount importance in determining the physical and chemical properties of the actinides and their compounds. Despite the common tendenc...

Photorecombination Studies of Lithium-Like Uranium Ions

During the last year detailed data analysis of previous photorecombination measurements with Li-like uranium U was performed. Photorecombination (PR) is the capture of a free electron under emission of one or more photons. In the independent processes approximation (IPA) PR usually is described to proceed either via a non-resonant direct pathway, radiative recombination (RR), or as a resonant t...

Molecular dynamics analysis of diffusion of uranium and oxygen ions in uranium dioxide

Diffusion behaviours of oxygen and uranium were evaluated for bulk and grainboundaries of uranium dioxide using the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. It elucidated that oxygen behaved like liquid in superionic state at high temperatures and migrated on sublattice sites accompanying formation of lattice defects such as Frenkel defects at middle temperatures. Formation energies of Frenkel and S...
